we hardly got any sleep since it was such a hot night, basically just tossing and turning trying to get cool. we got up an hour earlier since we were right next to our last time zone (eastern time). we packed up our things and headed to the gas station to grab some breakfast, double biscuit and gravy. today we were taking an alternative route to save us an extra day so we were going to bike 70 miles from falls of rough to bardstown. for the most part riding was really nice and good terrain then we got into a little bit of rolling hills/farmlands. it was overcast for the whole day and we could see patches of dark clouds just dumping rain on places away from us, so that was good. we had some dogs chase us today but nothing serious; there was one old dog that still thought he had it in him to chase us but he was so slow it was sad to see. we did have our water pistols fully loaded incase we needed to use them on any dogs that got dangerously close (just filled with water though). we rode into elizabethtown and i was coming down the hill and it was a red light so i had to stop but out came a dog chasing after me and i had to stop; i yelled at him and he finally backed away going. we then hit up a kroger where we got some lunch: fruits/yogurts. evan helped out a guy who needed to use a phone then we made our way to bardstown. our good pal, nate berrian, who is from kentucky gave us his brother matt's number to hook up with him when we get to bardstown, but matt lives on bardstown road in louisville which is 45min to an hour away so there was some confusion there but matt was so rad he hooked us up with a hotel when we got into bardstown. so we found the hampton inn and got to swim in the pool, got a shower and cleaned up. matt then took us out to dinner at el jimador where we enjoyed some great food and chatted. its always so great to meet up with a friend, especially since we've been on the road for so long. we then headed back to the hotel where we all just sat around and chatted till late. we then said goodbye to matt and thanked him once again and he took off while we went to bed.

Glad you got to stay in a comfortable hotel for the night.... although, I'm wondering if you've cleaned your bicycle outfits the entire time. They are looking pretty.... ragged. Too bad they didn't send you a change of TWO outfits!
