Woke up at 8:30 to be packed up and out of the way for church that morning and luckily it was not storming anymore. The water was shutdown all over the city because their water treatment center was flooded because of the storm; so we packed up and headed back to the rusty fork to get some bland breakfast, they even watered down the syrup. If you ever eat there, ha, order the biscuits, not the cornbread, biscuits are the only good things there and they're big. Elkhorn city had some cleanup and fixing to do after the storm but we had to leave that safe haven to head into virginia. After 5 miles of riding we got to breaks interstate park where a river runs through the hills; its very scenic and thats where the kentucky/virginia border lies. We finally got to take a picture with the “welcome” to kentucky sign (very disappointed with their sign) and then with virginia's sign. Hard to think of stuff to do when you bike up a hill and are dripping sweat knowing you have a full day of ups and downs to do. So nothing too exciting, sorry. We had some slow uphills and some fast downhills, which I don't like at all especially since the road is super windy. Nothing really to write home about in virginia yet, except you don't really need to use the map since every turn has a '76 biking sign showing you which way to go. We had a couple brutal climbs at council then a slow/tired climb into rosedale where we ended the day but were lied to when we asked where the downtown was and it was actually the opposite direction. There is a church that opens up to cyclists but its 5 miles down from rosedale so we didn't want to bike back up to town then back down to rosedale, luckily this church has pantries full of food for cyclists so I made some mac & cheese and evan made rice and soup for our afternoon snacks. We are out of the elements and our bikes our under a roof too so even if it wants to storm, we will be alright. Evan read and journaled while I psuedo-updated the blog, basically picking pictures to upload and writing everything out since we have no internet or phone service. We hit up a couple bars of wifi down the street just to check the route and couchsurfing, then we went back to the church and made a big batch of spaghetti o’s for dinner then read some more and went to bed.
