day 72

today we would leave DC. we awoke and packed our bikes and setoff to ride a long bike path out of DC, sounds pretty nice doesn't it? 20 miles of paved bike paths not needing to worry about cars but no. this bike path was more of a labyrinth trapped inside of a garden maze that was built upon a house of mirrors (a la inception). there were maybe 3 signs on the whole bike path and one was at the beginning and at the end of the trail, then the other one was who knows where. and the path would split but you wouldn't know which way to go. we rode on it then evan decided to go on the road and i stayed on the path, so we were separated and evan's road took a sharp left and my path took a sharp right then split in 2 so i went right, it split in 2 again so i went right, then it split again so i went right and was in a neighborhood. needless to say we were both lost and we somehow miraculously arrived at the end of the bike trail. we then took some back roads to get into the shaddy part of baltimore. when we were about 5 miles away from our couchsurfer's place, evan's shifter decided to not work anymore so he was stuck in his lowest gear (so he was pedaling very fast). luckily there was a bike shop along the way to jake and owen's place where he got it fixed. we finally arrived at jake and owen's house; we sat around and talked for a bit and met joni, their dog. two very cool guys and a great dog, so we went out and got some awesome pizza downtown.  jake gave us a quick and dirty tour and told us some places to hit up for tomorrow. we then went back to the casa and just chilled.
