day 73

today was a good day, an interesting day, some would say (wish i could make this whole entry rhyme but i don't have the time). jake, jodi, evan, and i walked to the grocery store to pickup some breakfast but while we were inside it started to storm like crazy out so we, along with many other shoppers, were trapped in the mall because it was raining and blowing so hard. so we all sat in the entry way eating some goodies and watching jodi interact with everyone, makes me really want to get a dog (a weiner dog of course). the storm finally passed us and we were able to walk back home where we ate our food and gathered up our bikes and evan and i made our way downtown baltimore to start exploring. we hit up red emma's, a bookstore, strolled around and saw some old churches and monuments, and then to the american visionary art museum. it was free and there were a couple art pieces that really impressed me while a lot of the others seemed fairly juvenile at best. sadly we weren't allowed to take pictures but if you are interested in some of the artists i enjoyed here is a short list: ala bashir (an iraqi doctor/artist who was saddam hussein's personal doctor), pedro martin declet (he did a great piece on the death of native american chiefs), and then jesse howard (who did a bunch of pieces in a series of wood boards from hell with bible verses and sayings from people). i then climbed the top of a fort/hill to overlook the waterfront and city, it was gorgeous. they were getting ready to have a free movie night on the lawn at the art museum and it was king kong, the classic version, but sadly we had to scoot. we headed back to try and watch jake at his bocci game but we arrived too late but nonetheless we went and hungout with his team at a restaurant to get some cheap burgers. evan and i needed to go head back down to catch the concert we came for, so we started walking several blocks to the wind up space. we arrived to a neurolux-esque venue (but no smoking and more well lit), we grabbed a seat and really enjoyed the slowest runner on earth with their instrumental goodness. then the moment we were waiting for, the ascent of everest came up to play and just blew us away, sadly they weren't headlining (no clue why) so they only got to play a handful of songs but each one was so epically executed. the last band, no clue what the name was, didn't even fit with the genre of the other two and just felt like a high school band, so we left and started the winding walk back up to the house. we arrived home late and went to bed.
